I didn’t blog about this before but right before leaving for G.theguidon.com relaunch party I was approached by one of glance’s reporters that were at the event to pose for a picture that was to be featured on their fashion article on the ACTM first GA (which had a mafia theme).

I’m not one to actually think a lot about fashion. I usually just try to look nice but I think the ACTM first GA (combined with the G Relaunch) was one of the days where I really decided to mix and match and find something that worked. I didn’t have to look much to find something black and sort of formal since I stocked up a lot of those from latin dancing hahaha.

For some reason everything seems to be going so well lately. I’m tired alot and I get sleepy a lot during statistics class but I’m getting through everything pretty well. I dunno I’m just in such a happy mood this semester! Everything is just going so well.

I also got back in the GUIDON! Finally after re-applying 4 times I got my job back! The GUIDON sure has changed though, not in a bad way but in a good way. A lot of the things I wish we’re there specially for the webteam is actually being done now and my co-staffers are all so brilliant! I haven’t felt surrounded by colleagues who can actually speak my geek language for a very long time!

Tomorrow’s gonna be a party day, I have the ACTM 1st GA from 430-6 then from 6pm onwards the G online magazine launch! Can’t wait!

I’m planning on sending a sponsorship letter to Supadance though I’m quite doubtful they’ll respond but I’ll keep trying though!

It’s not just the ADSC that needs sponsors, ACTM as well. Specifically, wired our magazine needs sponsors so we can have money for printing. Life is just so hard now.

Speaking of apple and macs, I got myself an apple remote today. A girl was selling brand new sealed apple remotes on Philmug the other day and they we’re really at a good price (600 php compared to the usual 1400-1900 php that they sell it on the major apple resellers in the country). I asked her to reserve one for me and I finally picked it up today. Finally I can make the most of Lockdown, Frontrow and keynote. I’ll definitely be ready for my group’s communication 11 presentation next week. It is a little irritating that the apple remote doesn’t come paired with my macbook (apple stopped pairing them as of Feb 2008), but I got a very good deal none the less. I still haven’t taken out the plastic covering the remote but I have paired it with my macbook so no one else can access it . I shall dub thee remote “Maggie Mui”

Last Saturday’s NSTP was tiring and fun at the same time. An interesting spot light of last Saturday was our guests from Santa Clara University, California. Sam and Austin are recent graduates who volunteered/ ordered by their mentor to come to the Philippines and do research for Austin’s Family’s Foundation (I think) as well as get exposed to the different kind of poverty we have here. I don’t have any pictures yet but I’m contacting my NSTP classmates as well as Sam and Austin to send me some pictures.

I simply deposited the payment into her account called her up and in two days my gelaskin came in the mail! It was that quick! It wasn’t expensive either Compared to the alternative which is Gmasks (with their boring photoshop brushed designs) that cost almost 3000 php, Gelaskins fromt his destributor only cost 1000 php thats a good deal! Now Anita looks so beautiful and no one would think she’s already two years old!

Global warming is really starting to take its toll on tropical countries like here in the Philippines. Summers here are getting extremely warmer even by tropical standards. It really became evident to me when I woke up last night at 11:45pm sweating like a pig from the heat. Last night was the first night I slept with the air-conditioning turned on since we moved in to our house 5 years ago. I hardly ever use the air-conditioning because I try as much as possible to cut down on electricity use (since I’m already on the computer 10 hours a day).

I really don’t understand how people can keep saying that human action is not to blame for global warming. It maybe a natural occurrence but this is happening at a rate that is unnatural. Even if you say its natural, are you just going to let it kill the world population slowly and not try to at the very least delay it one single bit? If there’s something I’ve learned from designing for the web and encountering different problems with different browsers is that when there is always a way to get around things.

It was a long ceremony and I found myself going outside the plenary hall every now and then because of the extremely cold air-conditioning. I decided to refresh myself with a drink after my 3rd or 4th walk out with something from the caterer that was stationed at the corridor.

I think the caterer was Via Maria’s and it was a big rip off. I asked for a bottle of C2 and they complied by giving me one of those smaller bottles of C2. What makes it bas is they charge 40 php for a small bottle of C2! 40 pesos!!! That’s like 1 dollar for an extremely small bottle of C2 Iced green tea!
